We review how to remove the rear seats from a Rav4. This is typically performed if you want to add sound deadening material under the seats for a more quieter ride. Others might remove their seats to create more cargo space for a more comfortable overlanding & camping experience.

1.
Uncover bolts that hold rear seat to SUV frame
Lift the fabric liner of the back seat to uncover bolts.
The liner is held in place with trim holders that can be simply pulled out by hand or a tool

Remove 12mm Bolts
Unbolt with 12 mm socket wrench
3.
Rotate seat holders on single seat to slide forward and out
Rotate the seat holders to release the “teeth” that are holding the back seat
4.
Rotate seat holders on double seat to slide seat forward
Rotate the seat holders to release the “teeth” that are holding the back seat
Pull double seat forward, but not all the way out. We need to remove the seat belt
5.
Unbolt seat belt between middle and right seat
Unbolt with 12 mm socket wrench
6.
Unplug seat belt sensor and remove seat
Press on the tab then pull apart the plugs
You can remove the double seats after this step
7.
Unclip and remove bench
Bench in clipped into frame on each of the front sides
Pull up with some force then rotate out
